インターネット上で情報を隠蔽しようとすると、その隠蔽行為が逆に注目を集めてしまい、隠蔽しようとしていた情報がよりインターネット上で拡散してしまうこと。

これはTechdirtのMichael Masnickが2003年に名づけたもので、女優のBarbara Streisandが航空写真に写っている自宅の削除を求めたが、逆に話題を集めてしまい、自分の自宅が大勢の人々に知られてしまったという事件にちなんでいる。
